Coherence and the Current Beneath the Currency
1 minute read.
It is worth pausing, briefly, to say what all of this has to do with coherence, for presencing genius is not a practice apart from it but one proposed means by which coherence is made between people. Every act of presencing draws two beings into accord and brings a third thing into being that neither held alone, and accord, multiplied across a community, is close to what we have meant by coherence. This is why we will come, in time, to speak of coherence as a currency, a medium of exchange a civilization might be built upon. But coherence is better understood as the current beneath any currency: the live charge of trust and attunement that lends every exchange its real value, and without which money is only paper and agreements only ink. The lived relation and the technical record that might one day represent it are not the same thing, and whether that current can be measured, recorded, or circulated without distortion remains an open design question. Presencing genius is how the current is generated, person by person, and a people who can generate it at will hold, in their hands, a coordinating power more fundamental than any instrument they might build to count it.
